Story

Hi - we’re Duncan and Jack, and we are running the London Marathon!!

Read on to find out a little bit more about us, Skiddle and why we’re taking on this massive challenge for Macmillan…

Skiddle lost a much-loved member of the team, Chris Glaba in 2015 and since then Skiddle have worked closely with Macmillan to raise awareness and fundraise in Chris's memory.

Having already raised over £375,000 for Macmillian, in January 2020,  Skiddle committed to raising a further £250,000 by the end of 2023. We’re right on course, but we can only hit this target with your help!

A bit about us…

Hello, I'm Jack!

I'm a Clubs Account Manager at Skiddle based in London!

A glass knee’d, beer-drinking 26-year old who had never run more than 10k in his life. After going to watch the 2021 marathon (very hungover) I decided it was my time to give this a whirl. However, I think I would have probably backed out if Duncan wasn't so up for it, so thanks for that Duncan…

My thoughts were “If I can’t do it at 26 then I’ll never do it.”  It was the perfect combination for a lifestyle change and to raise some great money for charity at the same time - contributing to Skiddle's mammoth support of Macmillian.  So many of us are affected by cancer, so chuck in what you can afford and get down to London on October 2nd to see me in a world of pain.

P.s If you want your brand / Name logo tattooed on someone forever… I'm your man! A donation of £1500 and I’ll do it.

Hi I’m Duncan!

I’m Head of New Business for Skiddle in London, and I have pretty much been allergic to exercise most of my adult life. That all changed in January 2021, when, looking down the barrel (and over my huge beer belly) at my fast approaching 40th birthday (and with some not so subtle ‘encouragement’ from my daughter, Freya), I decided that enough was enough and it was time to take action.

Getting fit and healthy was hard, giving up beer (I still have an occasional one!) was even harder! But here we are, 14 months later and I’m in the shape of my life. I’m so excited to run the marathon, and we hope to raise an incredible amount of money for Macmillian. So please - friends, family and guest list blaggers, dig deep and donate for such a great cause!

More on Macmillian…

There are around 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and over 360,000 more are diagnosed every year. Cancer can affect people's lives in so many ways and Macmillan does whatever it takes to give people the support they need when they need it most. Skiddle is extremely proud to work alongside a charity that makes such a difference in people's lives.

An incredible 98% of Macmillan's income comes from voluntary donations from supporters like us. Macmillan simply could not provide such care for those who are living with cancer without this support therefore donations are vital for Macmillan to fund nursing hours to support those living with cancer as well as provide physical, financial and emotional support.

The last two years have been the toughest in Macmillan’s 100-year history and they are still responding to the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. But thanks to Skiddle's support, when everything went on hold, Macmillan could continue to give people with cancer what they needed from them in lockdown: providing emotional support, essential coronavirus information and campaigning to ensure people with cancer would not be forgotten.

Promoter Raising (Logo Selling on T-shirt/Flag)

For every donation, your name/brand will be placed somewhere within the marathon. This could be on a T-shirt or flag which will be visible on official pictures or running gear.

Jack Tattoo: £1500+

If you were to donate £1500, Jack will get a Palm-sized tattoo of your brand logo (approved by Jack) somewhere on his body, tattoo costs would also need to be covered from the donation. Please email Jackb@skiddle.com if you would like to do this before donating.
