One of the largest neonatal units in the country treating around 900 babies each year, from Southampton, Poole & Bournemouth, Chichester, Dorchester, Basingstoke, the Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester and the Channel Islands

Story

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which provides specialist care to sick term and pre-term (premature) newborn babies.

This holds a special place in my heart as we needed their help with my two youngest. With our youngest born over 7 weeks premature. At a time of stress and worry they made the experience as easy as it could be. Over this time, we visited Southampton as well as a short stay in the Poole unit. Both units were excellent as this was over the Christmas period, they let us have a family Christmas all together which made it extra special.

The state-of-the-art facility is located at the Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton. This has 37 baby cots, 23 intensive/high dependency cots and 14 special care cots.It is one of the largest neonatal units in the country treating around 900 babies each year, from Southampton, Poole & Bournemouth, Chichester, Dorchester, Basingstoke, the Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester and the Channel Islands. Babies have survived as young as 23 weeks, with some of them only weighing 460g/1lb.

This is why as a company we are trying to raise 10k and more through 2022.

So, I’m taking on the challenge of the 24hr Three Peaks challenge on the 14th of May. Everyone that knows me, knows I have a lot of training to do in a short time frame. Which makes this challenge extra difficult for me weighing over 17 stone I have a lot of work to do.

The money raised could go towards new equipment, more resources for families, improvements to parent facilities or additional staff training. All of which could help to improve the unit even further, ensuring babies and families receive the best care possible.

So please donate to this great charity and help Skill and me reach our targets.

Wish me luck.
