I have been involved in the work of Above and Beyond since 2015. This has been primarily through the Above and Beyond Galenicals, set up by Liv Byrom (a fellow medical student) in the summer of 2015. I  stand in full support of the aims of the charity, passionate about playing a part in going ‘above and beyond’ in delivering care to patients in the hospitals I am training in. Amongst my favourites are their achievements in: the provision of a sanctuary for those of all faiths and none, the purchase of a non-invasive ventilator for the Paediatric ICU and the instalment of two new overnight relatives’ rooms in the Adult ICU. 

I'll be running in remembrance of Liv, a wonderful girl whose radiant personality is deeply missed. Liv, who sadly died on her medical elective in June 2018, was a great driver for my involvement in the charity. She was also a keen runner, having also set up the ‘Bristol University Medical Students (BUMS) On The Run’ group. She greatly encouraged me in my running. Thus, it feels fitting to run in remembrance of Liv, particularly remembering the work she did for Above and Beyond, and with the aim of contributing to furthering the fundraising in her name.
