Southampton University Cricket Club (SUCC), like numerous other organisations, aspire to do their bit during this national crisis. Therefore, we have come to the decision to conduct a fundraiser for the Southampton Hospitals Charity as a club. Our fundraiser will fundamentally contribute to helping the staff at the hospital. For example, with the help of previous donations, the ability to provide access to psychologists for staff, distribute over 1,500 hand creams and 65 coffee machines, as well as electronic tablets for staff, has been made possible. Consequently, enabling staff members to connect with their loved ones easily whilst on shift, provide a safe, pleasant working environment and boost the overall levels of morale of teams during this unprecedented time.

Members of SUCC were due to go on tour to Poreč in Croatia this year during the Easter break, however, Covid-19 prevented this from happening. With this in mind, we thought why not run the distance from Southampton to Porec. A huge total of 954 miles (1535.31km). However, we thought it would be silly to just go one way, so we decided that we will return from Porec to Southampton meaning we need to cover a distance of 3070.62 km over a 2-week period commencing on the 20th April and concluding on the 4th May. Most of us are better at drinking than running but the pints will have to wait as many SUCC members will be partaking in the challenge, raising their motivation levels to contribute to the cause.
