In September 2013 I will be moving to Bolivia for 12 weeks to work with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) supporting children and young people.
I will be working for one of the following NGO's:
Aldeas Infantiles SOS: aims to build families for children in need, and supports children to build their own future, helping them participate in the development of their communities.
Child Fund: protecting children and young people from discrimination, abuse, harassment, negligence and exploitation.
UpClose: working with the Valley of the Moon Children’s Centre in Mallasa to support indigenous families in overcoming poverty and exclusion.
Bolivia is the poorest country in Latin America and half the population is under 18 years of age. Many of these people are denied access to services such as health and education hence the request from local NGO's for extra volunteers to work on their programmes with children and young people.
This placement has been offered to me by the UK development charity 'International Service' who support people and communities internationally to thrive and fulfil their potential. All their work happens through development workers (like me!), and this wouldn't be possible without financial support.
Your donation will help young people (aged 18-25) from the UK to work with local NGO's and make a real difference to some of the world's poorest people.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and donate to my cause. Any contribution will be hugely appreciated!
