Link to Hope is celebrating 31years of rebuilding lives and communities in Eastern Europe. Many thousands of people have been impacted by their education and social care projects and I have decided to support their continued work by taking part in the Balkan Trek 11th - 18th June 2022.

I will be part of a team who will be trekking nearly 100km across the mountain ranges where Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo meet. Its going to be a tough trek and circular so we will be staying up where we are trekking in mountain huts, so it's no holiday. We are also paying for all the trip costs ourselves so 100% of the funds raised will go to the Link to Hope projects.

Link to Hope are raising money for fantastic projects in Eastern Europe, such as; The Inn of Love for very impoverished elderly folk, to Emmaus Club for children with special needs, to the Link to Hope kindergarten for the children of the local shanty town and a Soup Kitchen Link to Hope have built and support. And lots of other projects in Eastern Europe besides.

One key project we will be raising money for is the 'I AM' project. So many people in Eastern Europe have no identity papers for many different reasons. However it means that children can't access education, old people can't qualify for a pension and family can't get any financial help for basic necessities. They are the forgotten people and have no way of changing their circumstances. We are aiming to help as many people as possible obtain birth certificates and identity papers in order to change their lives and become a person who is recognised rather than continue to be invisible.
