Story

Hi I'm Lydia,

I am 12 years old and want to do my part in helping people who are living in poverty in other parts of the world without the help they need. (Btw I'm using my dad's JustGiving account as I can't have an account of my own because I am under 13.)

I'm going to be climbing the equivalent of the Four Peaks (the combined height of SnowdenBen NevisScafell Pike and Slieve Donard.) That means I'll be using the stairs in my house to climb just over 4000m. I have chosen to attempt it in 14 days, meaning I will be climbing 1650 steps a day. In our tall house that means climbing up and down our five stories 28 times a day.

I’m fundraising for Tearfund so that people living in poverty will be better equipped to deal with the devastation of coronavirus. I wanted to do this challenge because it was a way for me to help people who are having a much harder time than me.

We’re starting to see the impact coronavirus is having on some of the poorest communities. In places with poor healthcare and less infrastructure the potential for devastation increases.

By sponsoring me you will help Tearfund’s work, including promoting hygiene practices, providing food for those in quarantine and building hand washing stations.
