Story
Its very difficult to explain what is going on in your head at times. Having suffered with mental health issues myself I know how hard it can be to just make it through the day. Its times like this where it becomes easier to consider suicide as an option. I am passionate about shining the light on mental health and talking about it till the cows come home but it can be very hard to explain these thoughts, especially to someone that hasn’t experienced it.
On the 13/3/2021 at 10am I will be taking on a challenge of walking 24 miles all with in a 6ft x 6ft square. I will be doing this on a roundabout flyover above the A1. The reason behind this is to give a physical representation of the struggles people with mental health issues have. The 6ft x 6ft square representing the restricting feeling of our own mind. The flyover above the A1 represents the external noise we struggle to switch off. The roundabout I am doing this on is a very busy roundabout with traffic controls so there will be a lot of cars stopping watching on representing how we feel the entire world is watching our every move. The 24 miles is to represent 1 mile for each hour of the day.
Im raising money for Anxious minds to help them carry on the amazing work they do in helping people in crisis on a daily basis as well as setting up community projects to give people a community and sense of belonging.
Anxious Minds the mental health charity was founded in 2015, by Edward Dean after struggling to find support for my own mental health, after leaving the Army with 22 years service. Using his savings and War Pension with the attitude, if you don’t like what is happening, then change it. He has worked for the last five years as a volunteer, Chief Officer with what is now a Multi-Award Winning Mental Health Charity and will continue to work as a volunteer with the charity until people in crisis struggling for support get the support they need.
