Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I met Gary Herbert as a 14 year old young Northants cricketer and we have been friends ever since. This is despite him whacking me around the cricket fields of the county for the last 20 odd years.

In 2002, Gary and Lexi had a little boy called Lewis. He was diagnosed with West Syndrome at 3 months old. This has since developed into a condition called Lennox Gastaut Sydrome. LGS is a rare and extremely severe form of epilepsy with multiple seizure types. He can have hundreds of different seizures every day and his condition is resistant to any medication or therapies that have been tried.

Lewis is unable to do anything for himself and requires 24 hour care. As a result, both Gary and Lexi have had to give up work and become 24 hour carers for their son.

Lewis loves nothing more than wriggling about out of his wheelchair and loves multi sensory environments as long as they are well padded so he doesn't hurt himself. Gary and Lexi are raising money to develop a multi sensory garden at home for Lewis. It will make such a difference to him at home as he loves similar environments at his school and hospital. They are also raising money for the Tree of Hope, a charity who raise money for the parents of seriously ill children in the UK who need surgery, treatment or therapy to give them a better quality of life.

As a parent myself, I can only imagine how tough things are for Gary and Lexi. Lewis's bravery knows no bounds. This is such a worthwhile cause and I hope you can help me make a bit of a difference for Gary, Lexi and Lewis by sponsoring this bike ride.

If nothing else, surely the thought of me lugging my 6ft 5in frame around the Surrey and Sussex countryside for 5 hours is worth you parting with a few quid.

Thanks for visiting my page
