Story

On Sunday 28th May, a number of us will be taking part in the famous Great Manchester Run as a tribute to Steve Mycio and to raise money for the new Diabetes Centre at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital where he was Chairman. Steve championed the cause of the diabetes service to ensure a new Diabetes Centre will be delivered for Manchester.

Steve sadly passed away in December 2016 after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2015. He was passionate and dedicated to public service and spent over 40 years working towards a greater Manchester as the Deputy Chief Executive of Manchester City Council and more recently as Chairman of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust of which Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital is part of.

Having cared about Manchester so much, Steve always had written on his office whiteboard: “What have you done today to make the people’s lives of Manchester better?”

Steve was a keen runner and took part in the Great Manchester Run a number of times to support Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Please help us to raise as much money as possible for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital as a Tribute to Steve and for all he did for Manchester.
