Steven treks 84-mile Norfolk Coast Path for The Befriending Scheme · 6 May 2019

The Befriending Scheme provides friendship and learning opportunities for adults from vulnerable groups, including those with mental health needs and older people, as well as our existing members with learning disabilities. We also offer various volunteering opportunities with extra support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over the course of eight days I will be walking the 84 miles
of the Norfolk Coast Path.

I find it difficult to make friends as I have autism and found myself feeling lonely. I wanted to do some volunteering as a way of meeting people and making friends and found The Befriending Scheme online. I became a One-to-One Befriender as I know what it’s like to be lonely.

The Befriending Scheme linked me up with someone they knew I would get on with - he really values my support and friendship.

I am really enjoying my time with The Befriending Scheme as
I have a lot of support from everyone and have made some meaningful and supportive friends, who have accepted me for the way I am and treat me like everyone else.

I wanted to give something back to the Scheme for all the support and kindness they have shown me and everyone who uses their services.

I have always enjoyed walking with my family and I am really looking
forward to walking the Norfolk Coast Path in May.
