Story

Always Sue

On October 16th 2017 my best friend, wife and amazing mother to Millie, Sue Barter passed away after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

From being admitted to hospital for the first time on the 28th September 2017 she was subsequently moved to Velindre the following week.  The love and compassion with which every single person at Velindre treated Sue and the rest of us will live with me for the rest of my days.

Being able to provide the care that they do in what can be the worst possible of times takes a special kind of person or group of people.

Some may think that Sue battled cancer for a short time.  This isn’t the case.  Truth be told, I think Sue had known about her cancer for a year or more.  I can only speculate as to why she didn’t do anything about it or tell anyone.  There’s a lot of guilt on my part for this very reason.

Sue was the one who dealt with everybody else’s problems.  Always there for a chat, a cwtch or some advice. Always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everyone else was ok.  She saved me.

So now, it’s time to give something back.  Sue raised thousands for a variety of charities but also gave countless hours to others.

I’m asking anybody who is interested in remembering my wife (their friend) to consider using this page so I can give something back to Sue’s legacy and also to the exceptional team at Velindre.

Following in from fundraising during 2018 I’ll be trying a few different things in 2019.

Thanks from myself and Millie for taking the time to read this.
