On 14th March 2020, my family, friends and I are once again doing a 21 mile walk to celebrate World Downs Syndrome Day and raise money for our local charity Sundowns. 

We will be walking from Shotwick Lake to the Derby Pool Pub in New Brighton along the coastal path to raise both awareness of Down Syndrome and to raise money for Sundowns who are an amazing charity supporting families of Children with Down Syndrome on the Wirral. They provide education and training progammes, a weekly Makaton signing group for pre-schoolers and regular social events. 

I am very lucky to be Mummy to a wonderful almost 2 year old with Down Syndrome. Alistair is my third child and when he was born we received a postnatal diagnosis of his condition. He is a funny, clever and quite stubborn little boy who loves to be the centre of attention and make everyone laugh. I am enjoying him growing and developing and seeing his cheeky personality and am excited for his future. 

World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on 21st March every year to help raise awareness and educate the World about Down Syndrome and try to dispel the outdated stereotypes around the condition. By doing this we can give our children the best future. 

Sundowns is there each and every day to support families of new babies. Our weekly "Signing for Babies" makaton group is run by volunteers. These volunteers are parents of older children and young adults with Down Syndrome and the experience and support they provide is helpful to so many. It lovely to meet up with other families and share our happy and difficult moments.

Without fundraising this charity wouldn't be able to provide the support it does and we just want to give a bit back for all the support they have provided us. So, please if you can spare any money to support this wonderful cause it would be very much appreciated.
