I have challenged myself to complete a one day Stand Up Paddleboard Marathon along the river Wey and Thames on the 26th August 2017 (depending on weather conditions). That's 26 miles of winding rivers, locks and the UK's weather along the way and all in one day.
The day will look something like this
08:00 head off from Guildford
10:30 arrive at the Anchor in Wisley
11:30 leave the Anchor
19:00 arrive at the Eel Pie for a SUP n Sip
I will provide updates of all the training leading up to the event where anyone is welcome to join me for a paddle and possible taster sessions and classes.
I am currently planning this as a solo adventure, and welcome anyone to join me along the route.
The money raised will help support my local children's hospice Julia's House.
So, why am I SUPporting this charity and asking for your donations. The simple answer is that 49,000 children and young people are living in the UK with health conditions that are life-shortening or life-threatening – and the number is rising. That’s one in every 270 children – the equivalent or one in every school. Hearing the news that your child, or a child close to you, has a life-limiting heath condition is heart-breaking. Many children have complex conditions and need care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Working with their members, Together for Short Lives help families make the most of their precious time together by supporting and raising money for children’s hospice services and giving a voice to children, young people, families and the organisations that support them.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
