Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hello Moon Bear Friends, this is the new JustGiving page for our Surrey and Hants Animals Asia Support Group. The mantle of leading the Group has recently passed from Oliver to Aileen and so we start a new page and a new chapter in the Group. Huge thanks to Oliver who will remain part of the Group going forward :-)

Moon Bear Friends, I would like to thank everybody who attended the gig.   It was a great evening despite the fact that the weather changed somewhat but the rain stayed away until right towards the end.  Thank you also to those who kindly contributed but weren’t able to come. We raised a whopping £2720, which is tremendous and every single penny will go towards not just rescuing and mending the caged, broken bears but in effecting lasting changes in animal welfare in Asia.

Then on 8/8/18 it was the 20th Anniversary of the founding of Animals Asia by our wonderful CEO Dr Jill Robinson and we held a small gathering - a vegetarian “Bear-B-Q” and raised a further £405! Wonderful for our bears

Our next event: we will have a stall at the Cobham Heritage Fayre with a Teddy Tombola for the children and a Drinks Tobola for the adults. Plus lots of info on the charity - come along on Saturday September 8th and say hello!

The Surrey and Hants Animals Asia Support Group are here to raise money for, and awareness of, Animals Asia and their tireless work against bear bile farming and raising awareness on all animal welfare issues, such as dog and cat meat and fur farming, the plight of animals in zoos and safari parks as well as many animal welfare issues around the world.

Bear bile farming has a cruelty in a league of its own. Not only are these bears confined to tiny cages, unable to move or stand on grass, they are tortured daily to extract their bile - and this can go on for years and years. Oliver ,a brown bear rescued in 2010, spent the first 30 years of his life in a cage, unable to move or even to grow properly.  Just stop for a second and consider your achievements over a life of 30 years! For anyone who is unfamiliar with bear bile farming please have a look at Animals Asia's website. Find out what it is and how Animals Asia is making a real difference: www.animalsasia.org

Please be a part of the change - it is happening, it is changing - and with your help we can continue to make it so, ending this cruelty and others for good - please feel free to share our page
