Mission Accomplished! (This site will be swimming until Sept 2010, so it's not too late to sponsor us!)We swam in the Serpentine in Hyde Park early on 13th September 2009... completing 1 kilometre (and beyond - orthopaedic surgeons Jason and Steve achieved their operational plan by being mindful of swimming alongside the "patient" and researcher to achieve the optimal outcome!).
"I thoroughly enjoyed the swim and the preparatory training and hope that it has raised the profile of Bath University Centre of Orthopaedic Biomechanics.I look forward to future similar events."(Jason Webb The Surgeon)
"I can honestly say that after a year of training and successfully completing my goal I am rehabilitated and looking forward to the next enjoyable swimming event for beneficial research." Victoria Wells (The ex-patient!)
"I was surprised to find I actually enjoyed it - what a great way to spend a Sunday and for the best possible cause!" Hazel Boyd (The researcher)
The sponsorship will raise money to further research at the Centre for Orthopaedic Biomechanics (University of Bath ), on joint replacement and , in particular , to address the increasing demands of the patients, both young and old who are living longer and have increasing aspirations to lead full and active lifestyles.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: University of Bath gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
