Story
With more than 50% of all public hospitals in Syria destroyed, damaged or no longer operating – the medical crisis in the country has only gone from bad to worse. Thousands of people are left without basic medical care, thousands of others who have sustained life-changing injuries often have no way of getting treatment and instead die of their wounds.
We have been working on the ground in Syria for the past four years. With much of our work focused on the medical sector, we have opened hospitals and medical facilities, mobile medical units, and transported ambulances to the country to enable doctors to save peoples lives faster. In the past year alone, over 200,000 people have been treated in our hospitals and medical facilities.
As airstrikes intensify on civilian-populated areas – ambulances are in high demand in Syria. We’re working to raise funds to buy purpose-built ambulances and transport them to Syria to be used in medical facilities in the country. Some of our supporters have asked if they can contribute towards fund-raising for ambulances.
We’re aiming to purchase 6 4x4’s and to convert them into ambulances - the 4x4’s will be able to cope with the difficult terrain and destroyed roads - that traditional ambulances may struggle with. Our supporters are aiming to raise a total £85,000, this will be used to cover the cost of purchase of the vehicles, modification to an ambulance standard, servicing and shipping and transport costs from the UK to Syria. Please give what you can to enable us to help our brothers and sisters in Syria who are in desperate need of our help. Any money left over will be used to purchase medical aid to send alongside the ambulances in the containers. You donations could mean the difference between someone getting to hospital in time, or dying due to a lack of medical care.
