Story
‘Tata Founder’s Day’ is celebrated on the 3rd March every year, through various events, organised at all Tata businesses across Europe to celebrate the birthday of Tata group founder Jamsetji Tata. In 2016, employees from Tata Steel’s European operations raised more than £13,000 for cancer charities in the heart of their communities. Fundraising activities included charity football matches and cycle rides. Approximately 8,000 employees in South Wales area, stretching from Llanelli to Newport will this year be involved in organised events in remembrance of Jamsetji and his dedicated work to cancer charities in the local community.
Based on the success of previous cycle rides, Tata Steel in Port Talbot and Llanwern are raising money for St. David’s Hospice Care.
We will be cycling 55 miles (93km) from Llanwern to Port Talbot. The route is on roads, is marshalled, and a support vehicle will accompany the cyclists – AND, there will be sausage and chips waiting for you at the finish in Port Talbot Sports & Social Club!
