As part of the 2.6 challenge to save the UK's Charities, we've formed Team26miles. We are 26 strong, determined women and men who have come together to each run or walk 26 miles every week over 26 days. That's over 2,600 miles in 26 days as a team, and all while individually following social distancing rules on exercise! Together, we want to create more awareness for domestic abuse charities and to raise as much as possible for Woman's Trust.

Since Covid 19 and the lockdown, cases of domestic abuse have risen and increased in severity with more women needing support. On the 22nd April, The Guardian reported that in the first four weeks of the lockdown, the number of women and children killed in their homes had doubled the grim weekly average of two women per week.

Woman’s Trust expect to see a rise of women needing their services and are already seeing more calls to their helpline. Currently facing a funding shortfall, they urgently need to raise at least £40,000 over the next eight weeks to be able to continue to provide their much needed services.

Woman’s Trust is a mental health charity providing free counselling, therapy and support groups to women trying to recover their lives after domestic abuse. One in four women are affected by domestic abuse, often leading to depression. Additionally, 1 in 5 children are affected, potentially leading to problems at school, future drug or alcohol dependency and mental health problems.
