Fundraising for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice
Story
For a few years now I have toyed around with the idea of running a half marathon but the timing has never been right and I've found it hard to commit to the time needed to give myself the right preparation. Those that know me will understand this and that if I am going to tackle anything, I want to give it the best shot possible.
This year I realised that perfect time will never come given the juggling tricks I normally need to do to carry out life's daily challenges. I decided that I wanted to take part in the Great North Run and the opportunity came in the form of a charity place for Bluebell Wood Hospice. Based in South Yorkshire, they provide care for children with life-shortening and threatening conditions.
So why Bluebell Wood? Well, in the future they will be supporting my friends Warren and Jodie and their beautiful son Daniel.
Daniel was born on the 10th November 2016 but due to complications at birth was diagnosed with severe Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy or HIE.
Already, Daniel has overcome the odds and achieved so much in his young life and with the love and support of his parents around friends around him, I am certain this will continue.
I feel privileged to be allowed this opportunity to run for Daniel and Bluebell Wood and promise that I will train enough to get myself round in a decent time, although I have never ran as far as this before!
