When Rob and I got married in Dec 2016, we declined the offer of gifts because we wanted to do a challenge together and raise funds for a charity or charities of our choice.
It's only taken us a year but in acknowledgement of our original intention, an opportunity has presented itself through Help for Heroes by way of climbing Ben Nevis using only torchlight. We intend on setting off before sunset and to reach the summit in time for sun rise. We will climb the UK's biggest mountain, elevation of some 1344m and through 15km of rough terrain in goodness knows what kinds of weather!
This will be physically demanding for me having been medically discharged from the Army in 2014 for spinal problems. This means that the undulating ground and steep inclines will put great pressure on my back and knees but digging deep is nothing new to a former soldier but we need you guys to do the same!!!
Rob will support me in completing the trek so collectively we have decided to choose Sapper Support as our charity of choice. An award winning charity providing PTSD helpline support to serving, veterans and 999 emergency services.
