We fund equipment and research to improve the care we give to our patients

Story

We are running this year’s TCS London Marathon for the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Charitable Fund, and here is why:

As a child, Thea grew up in Buckinghamshire, where many of her family still live. In February 2022, Thea’s mum was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. This has come as a huge shock to our family, but we have been impressed by the support and treatment provided by the Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust. Mum is currently recovering from major surgery to remove the cancer, and is waiting to start a course of chemotherapy.

We wanted to do something to say thank you to the Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust for treating her so promptly, and fundraising for the General Amenity Fund (Fund 5006) of the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Charitable Fund is our small way of giving something back. This fund is used to pay for activities to enhance the services that are provided to patients, to improve patients’ lives, to enhance the environment in which care is given, to support the wellbeing of the Trust’s staff and to support research activities.

Thinking of Mum and how lucky she is to be able to access surgery and treatment for her cancer will help us when the training gets tough, and remembering who the fundraising will benefit will add an additional focus to our training.

We would be very grateful if you could help us to reach our fundraising target by donating, your support will help us through the many many miles of training.
