ROHINGYA (BURMA) EMERGENCY APPEAL
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
They have often been called the most persecuted minority in the world. The 1.1 million Rohingya Muslims squeezed precariously into the north-west state of Rakhine, in mainly Buddhist Burma, bordering majority Muslim Bangladesh, are stateless and unwanted.
Neither country will give them citizenship even though their families’ roots in modern-day Rakhine, once called Arakan, can be traced back to the Eighth Century.
Over the past year, military operations against Rohingya villages have been so intense and cruel that the minority’s defenders have warned of an unfolding genocide.
The United Nations has reported that the army may have committed ethnic cleansing.
HOW CAN TASK FORCE GLM HELP THEM?
Alhamdulillah since 2016 our ongoing emergency intervention has been targeting those affected families who had either returned back to their homes, were internally displaced and living with relatives, or had constructed temporary shelters. Task Force GLM's distribution of emergency relief (food and non-food items) and provision of medical care in Maung Daw Township has been
ongoing since December 2016. Over 4200 families have been
provided aid through our efforts so far Alhamdulillah
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
As well as making du’a, help us to HELP THEM BY providing food parcels to our brothers and sisters in need. Each food parcel costs £50 and will help to sustain a family for 1 month. Please donate as much as you are able to do.
You can also build a shelter for a family of 6 for just £700 in Rakhine state in Myanmar.
