Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. Everyone knows of someone who has died from a cancer related illness, but thanks to the funding Cancer Research UK provides, slowly but surely, more of us know of someone who has beaten cancer.

Our team, The Master Bakers, is formed of BBC One’s MasterChef 2016 finalists, Billy Wright and Jack Layer, and Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off 2018 contestants, Antony Amourdoux, Manon Lagrève and Ruby Bhogal... and Billy, Jack and Antony's agent, Niki Downs. We all have a cancer story and a reason to want to raise funds for CRUK and as such, we're challenging ourselves to run a half marathon in the city that we call home, London. Eeeekk! 

Cancer Research UK is particularly close to Billy and Jack's hearts, and for a good reason. On 22^nd June 2017, Billy was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer after visiting the doctor with a persistent cough. Doctors found numerous growths on and around his thyroid gland and he was diagnosed with this rare form of cancer shortly after. Thankfully, after a long operation, and with ongoing treatment, Billy is well on the road to recovery and causing more trouble than ever. 

We're very excited to be running this race together and to be raising funds and awareness together. If you've been touched by cancer, please do show us your support, be it financially or in person, cheering us along on the big day. We'll need all the whooping and yelling that you can muster to get us across that finish line! We'll be hosting a supper club, together, in March to raise further funds, so make sure you're subscribed to our email newsletters!
