Story

Hi, I think most viewers of this page will have met me, and I hope for some this was a good experience and apologise to those who it wasn't. I hope to make up for it sometime soon. Anyway I am Adam Blencowe, quiet boy to some, rowdy animal to others, bald hairy man to most. Now you may or may not of heard but I have organised and am taking part in the first ever London to Delhi Vanvan voyage, due to depart from London on the 1st September 2008. At the moment there is only one participant and that is me, but your welcome to join me! (unfortunately since time of writing, the application procedure has now closed, so it looks like its going to be just me) Now your probably wandering what the hell is it? Well primarily it is designed to terrify your family for 8000 miles or 100 days until you get to Delhi safely - Sorry Mum. Actually that's not really true.... Essentially I am doing the following: 1. I am riding from London to Delhi. 2. I am doing this on a 125cc motorbike called a Vanvan (thats a small engine for big distance). 3. I will be covering approximately 8000 miles 4. I will be crossing 13 countries and 5 time zones. 5. I hope to complete the trip within 100 days. 6. I doing it unsupported (no backup vehicles with spare bikes, like the cheating celebs) 7. I have saved the money to support myself for the entire trip. Now I have all of the above covered, BUT I need your help with one thing. I would like to use this trip to raise money and awareness for Switchback. This is a recently started award winning East London based charity that helps young adult offenders, who have often had a difficult and dis-advantaged start in life, get back into work and re-build there lives on release from prison. They provide constant support as they train at the Skylight café in Spitalfields. Through personal development and addressing the practical issues at the heart of the re-offending cycle, sustainable employment becomes a realistic option for this vulnerable group. All I ask of you as the reader of this long message (and I thank you for your patience) is to pledge your support and give as little or as much as you can. I would like to re-iterate that your money does NOT go towards the trip but to the charity only. As a sponsor your name will be carried on the bike (on the inside of lid of my pannier to be precise) all the way to Delhi . I will be updating the Just Giving webpage on my trip and if you leave your email address I will send you my blog address so you can check on progress... Please tell anyone you feel might be interested in either the trip or donating, I would like to thank you for your time and I hope your name will be joining me and keeping me company on this long voyage east. All I ask is dig deep, and wish me luck! Thanks again, Adam
