Story

The last 12 months have seen an awful lot of loss, but also prompted an outpouring of goodwill and generosity.

Romily, Rafae & Rebe (with ancillary support from youngest sister Remi, pace-setting by Johnny, and restorative hot chocolates from Tory) have been inspired to beat the latest lockdown and fundraise in memory of their beloved grandpa, Graham.

The boundary-pushing treatment and care Graham received from Papworth Hospital enabled him to defy countless odds over the years, and, importantly, gave him invaluable time with all his grandchildren.

His 3 oldest granddaughters will each be running a personal marathon over February Half Term for Grandpa. That's 78.6 miles to be covered over 9 days.

They would really appreciate all the support you can give.

Royal Papworth Hospital treats some of the most life threatening conditions within the NHS. It is a globally renowned centre for excellence with over 100 years of medical firsts in cardio thoracic medicine behind it. As a specialist heart and lung hospital, in the past 12 months, Papworth has also been at the forefront of the national response to COVID, treating some of the most critically ill coronavirus patients from across the UK.

Graham was awed by and ever grateful for what Papworth did for him. The consultants, in their turn, appreciate and are humbled by the courage of their patients who, like Graham, are prepared to take the ultimate risks and allow them to achieve ever greater proficiency and understanding.

Royal Papworth Charity bridges the gap between NHS funding and the reality of ground-breaking cardio thoracic treatment.
