Thanks for taking the time to visit Team Rata's just giving page.
Team Rata (on this occasion) consists of Martyn Bratt, Dan Bullock, Robin McCluney and Jeremy Chubb. On the 8th of June we will be cycling the Lakeland 200, the route can be seen at the following link:
The Lakeland 200 is a mountain bike route traversing 200km of the Lake District National Park mostly off road. The route typically starts in Stavely, and is ridden in a clockwise direction. It offers approximately 6,400 metres of ascent and takes in a significant number of the Lakeland Classics. The Lakeland 200 is considered one of the hardest multi day rides in the UK and is rarely finished in under 30 hours, the team are aiming to complete it in 3 days, so will be in the saddle for around 10 hours a day since the goal is to complete the route in under 30 hours.
On our last campaign three years ago, riding Coast to Coast with a fixed gear, our charity was chosen for us by another of our riding buddies who lost his mother to cancer over a decade ago. We have all been touched by the disease through family or friends at some point in our lives, indeed one of our team lost his father to the illness very recently, Roger McCluney sadly passed away on the 5th December 2013. Therefore on this occasion, all funds raised will be donated to the hospice who cared for him. Charities like East Cheshire hospice make the last few days dignified and are a great thing that need massive support, it needs no further championing, it is a great cause.
