We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

We are Alice, Katherine, Jo, Rachel and Rene.

Over the last few months, we've happily discovered that it's far easier to run when you've got great company. Whenever Government rules have allowed, we've run together, chatted together, laughed (and sometimes cried) together and, above all, spurred each other on!

We are a totally mixed bag of real-life runners, jolly jogglers and determined novices. In the absence of any organised events, we wanted to find a way to come together to celebrate our training, our friendship and, critically, to raise some much-needed funds for charity. Charities large and small are struggling right now, and they need our help.

We've chosen to run our very own 5k race for Cancer Research UK because, like most people, we've all been touched by cancer in some way or other. Alice herself, recently had breast cancer and we are beyond happy that she overcame this! A few months before Alice's diagnosis, Rachel's dad was diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer called Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. He sadly lost his battle after a year of treatment. This October marks a year since Rachel's dad passed away and it feels like a poignant moment to run our race.

Some of us are (a lot) fitter than others (!!) but we're all giving it a go and we'd love to raise as much as possible for Cancer Research UK. So please, give whatever you can, and we promise we'll do our absolute best running on the big day!

Thank you!

Love, Rachel, Alice, Katherine, Jo and Rene x
