Story
Olly was born on 10 July 2015 weighing 8lb 3 oz, there were no complications throughout the pregnancy. A breathing condition was spotted whilst still in hospital at 3 days old, so he was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital.He was diagnosed with stridor, vocal cord palsy/dysfunction and larngomalacia. unfortunately, at 7 days old, he deteriorated and ended up in intensive care where he underwent surgery on his airway to enable him to breathe. Within 5 days he came off his ventilator and bubble cpap and went back up to the neonatal ward. The consultant said it was now up to Olly! A few days later he ended up on high dependancy after deteriorating for a 2nd time , just as plans were being made to bring Olly home. He started to progress and things were looking very positive, but Olly had different ideasand took very very poorly and ended back in intensive care where it was said we very nearly lost him and thats a tracheostomy would be the best option for him to enable him to get better. This was done, and while he still has his good days and his bad days, ut he has proven to be a little fighter by doing things they said he possibly never would! It has been an emotional roller coaster but we are getting closer to home by each day hopefully. This page has been set up to show our appreciation for all the hard work and support from neonatal and intensive care for all they have done for Olly. It costs £2000 per day and we feel we need to give something back. It's true, you don't realise just how much the nursing teams do until you need it for yourself. A sincere appreciation for all that you do day in and day out. The supp ort is amazing. x
