We fund life saving medical research to beat the world's biggest killers.

Story

Meng had lived with a heart condition for many years which had been managed by medication throughout this time but towards the end of 2019, Meng’s health had begun to deteriorate.

Meng was one of the first to begin working from home in March 2020 however, his health worsened and was admitted to hospital. It transpired that a heart transplant was required and Meng was kept in hospital. Further complications developed and sadly Meng passed away on 18th April 2020.

Meng quietly and diligently went about his work and he had a great work ethic, you enjoyed working with Meng as he brought a depth of knowledge to the project and design team covering all aspects, be it design through to in—depth technical matters. He had a tendency to go into great detail on all matters which generally meant all points were covered and you had to smile when he discussed and relayed these to contractors, you could sense the contractor’s eyes rolling! But they did ultimately appreciate the advice and guidance given.

Meng had a happy and cheery disposition, a great personality and you were never far away from smiling and laughing with him. Discussions in the studio during the day ended up covering many topics and he was always keen to join in and offer opinions, especially if it involved travel. Meng enjoyed holidays back home to Malaysia where he spent the early part of his life, and he made a number of people very jealous with his screensavers from various holidays over the years.

Away from the office, Meng was a Monk, not in the religious sense but a Monk called Bruce Lee in the game Dungeons and Dragons and his character’s trademark move was to kick opponents between the legs!

These past years have been difficult for many of us and for many differing reasons however, it’s particularly hard when we’ve lost someone close to us. We’ve not been able to attend funerals to pay our respects and celebrate lives and the time we had with those loved ones, friends and colleagues. Here’s to a good one we lost in 2020, Meng Tang.

As part of this JustGiving page we are hosting a charity night called Tang Event with all proceeds being donated to the British Heart Foundation. An organization who’s dedication to research on how to reduce deaths, like Mengs, from heart and circulatory diseases. Their research helps the 7.6 million people in the UK affected by heart and circulatory conditions. Since their inception in 1961, the British Heart Foundation has helped reduce the annual UK deaths from heart and circulatory conditions by half.

We at jmarchitects hope our contributions from tonight’s event and this justgiving page will help the British Heart Foundation make life saving discoveries in the future and we do it all for Meng.
