We empower those affected by MS in Scotland to live full and productive lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have quite a few friends who currently suffer from this terrible and debilitating disease. I've lost a few friends to it as well.

Like all terrible diseases, MS has an impact not only on the sufferer, but on the lives of those around them; family and friends, close and not so close.

Like many terrible diseases, there is no cure and the ongoing fight to find one, is an uphill struggle at best.

Like any terrible disease with no cure, there is only "treatment" and no "one size fits all". Sufferers often struggle with several treatments back-to-back, until one is found which has the best effect on the disease, whilst limiting the impact of any side effects.

Often, treatments either don't work at all, or cause side effects which are ultimately worse than coping with the disease itself. This spiral of negativity is just one of the many things which MS sufferers and those closest to them have to deal with on a daily basis, for the rest of their lives.

That's where people like the wonderful MS Revive come in. They provide a range of information, support and specialist therapies which are designed to make life better for people affected by MS, no matter what their symptoms might be.

They have a team of almost 30 professional staff offering a wide range of therapies including physiotherapy, aromatherapy, reflexology, counselling, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, speech and language therapy (including swallowing and cognitive advice), chiropody, dietary advice and other specialist services and support groups, as well as information, advice and practical support. They offer a range of groups and classes, from Pilates to Fatigue Management sessions. And they also offer a variety of services for those recently diagnosed, including support for carers, counselling and information and advice for their allied health professional partners.

They do much, MUCH more and need your help to continue to provide these invaluable services to MS sufferers and those closest to them.

So, I decided to do an open-water swim to help raise money for this wonderful organisation. I completed the swim on August 27th 2016 at a decent time of 40:47. I entered the water at the back of the crowd (being a noob to this) and that meant a big delay in actually getting clear of anyone to begin swimming.

Now, that we're SOOO close to the £1,000 target, I'm running a 5K at the Loch Ness Marathon in September this year.

PLEASE continue to help me to raise at least £1,000 for MS Revive. PLEASE give generously.
