COVID-19 Emergency Appeal
Campaign by The Fostering Network (RCN 280852 & SC039338)
Just as our services and support are facing unprecedented demand during this pandemic, we are facing a loss of income of around £25,000 due to the fact that fundraising activities and events like the London Marathon cannot safely take place.

Story

Fostering in lock-down has been really hard.  We mean, REALLY hard! We were not going to attempt the walk this year, but at the last minute had a change of heart, to remember why we do what we're doing.  And besides, nothing is more fun than dragging five children up a big hill.

40,000 children and young people come into care in an average year.  2.3 million vulnerable children are known to Children's Services and there is an expectation throughout the sector that with families under pressure due to Covid-19 lock-down, there will be thousands of children coming into care in the coming months.

Every day, 55,00 fostering families support 65,000 children and young people in their homes.  The Fostering Network is raising money to provide support, training and guidance to these families, to improve opportunities for fostered children and young people.

So, on Saturday, we will be donning our garish bright orange t-shirts and tutus (yes, you Mark), and ascending the height of the Burj Khalifa down the road at Ivinghoe Beacon.  With two pairs of little legs, and five pairs of slightly longer ones, we aim to scale a lofty 829 meters between us.  Cue much whinging, moaning, cajoling and the promise of an ice cream at the end...

Thank you so much for your donation.  We are grateful for all your support!
