Story
Thanks for visiting our Big Walk 2017 Just Giving page. More information about The Big Walk 2017 can be found at: www.shef.ac.uk/big-walk
What are we doing?
We're taking part in The Big Walk 2017, a walking challenge on 30 June-1 July – a 50-mile circular walk starting and ending at the University and going out into the Peak District. We’ll have up to 24 hours to complete as much of the route as we can. For some team members this will be a walking challenge, for others it will be a running challenge. For all of us it will be the longest distance we have attempted to cover in a single day.
Why are we doing this?
We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
Further information about the Sheffield Scanner can be found at: www.sheffield.ac.uk/sheffieldscanner
Please donate to this fantastic cause which will have a terrific impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE BIG WALK 2017 AND THE SHEFFIELD SCANNER CAMPAIGN!
