Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I aim to raise money for the NMO-UK charity through bringing enjoyment and relaxation to those who listen to my music. I have played and written music on acoustic guitar for a number of years. In 2016 I was diagnosed with NMO myself. You can hear a selection of my current music at my website www.timwallacemusic.com or on my SoundCloud page soundcloud.com/timwallaceuk. If you enjoy listening then please consider making a donation to support the NMO-UK charity. If enough interest is demonstrated the goal is to release an EP of my music to fundraise further for the charity.
NMO (neuromyelitis optica) is a rare and serious neurological condition of the central nervous system, affecting mainly the optic nerves and spinal cord. When it struck me in 2016 I became almost totally blind within a few days. This lead to emergency hospital admission and treatment with very high dosage intravenous steroids to help get things under control. I have remained on long term steroid usage to control the condition, but suffered a relapse requiring emergency hospital admission a few months after diagnosis. Over time my sight has recovered to a good level of functioning but I am very fortunate in this regard. Some of the nerve damage is permanent and will never fully recover.
Having NMO has had a profound impact on my life and those of fellow sufferers. Please visit the links on this page to learn more and consider a donation to the charity to help tackle this terrible disease. Thank you for listening!
