How can I promote my online fundraising page

Promote your page on social media and email to reach more, raise more and change more lives

Promoting your fundraising page to raise as much money as possible

Once your page is up and running you will want to think about letting your friends, family and colleagues know you are fundraising online. They are people who will know you personally and will be happy to help support you as you work towards your fundraising target.

Many people feel nervous about asking people for money, but you should remember that you are doing it for a wonderful cause that means a lot to you, so share and update should be the rule of thumb. The more you can communicate your fundraising and why you are doing it, the more supporters you will gain and the more lives you will help change.

If you followed our great fundraising toolkit, you will have all the elements you need to communicate your story well on social media and on email. At JustGiving we realise that it is the power of people in your community that enables you to raise money, so we make it easy to share directly to Facebook or Twitter. To do this you can just visit your page and click the “Share on Facebook” button right from your page, or login and select “Share on Facebook” or “Spread the word on Twitter” from within your account.

From within your account you can also send your page to your email contacts, and add a sponsor me badge to your email or to your website or blog.

The key is to make sure that you are letting people know that you are raising money online, that you have a fundraising page that they can quickly and securely donate money to, and why you have chosen to support the cause you have. Effectively communicating this will mean that those who care about you will care about what you are doing, and it increases the chance that they will become active supporters of your fundraising.
