Hi there,
This Justgiving page is our joint fundraising effort in memory of Paul David Miles.
My name is Tom Miles, and with my brother Jamie (Miles) and sister's boyfriend Dayle (Grubb) we are in the process of planning and training for a sponsored cycle in memory of my Dad who died of pancreatic cancer on May 12, 2016 exactly one month from the day of his diagnosis.
My father worked for Airbus and had done so for 37 years. His work was a massive part of his life. He also loved cycling. After his diagnosis, we decided that we would combine these two parts of my dad's life and cycle from Airbus Filton in Bristol to Airbus Toulouse, France (~1000km) to help raise awareness of this devastating disease.
Our plan is to start this journey from Airbus, Filton (Bristol) at 6am on the 19th July 2017. Together Jamie, Dayle and I, along with some of my fathers Airbus colleagues will get to cycling. My Mum (Susie), sister (Frankie), brother's fiancée (Maria Branton) and my partner (Emma-Louise Crawford) will drive alongside us as our support team. I will catch the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen, France the following day and then continue on to Toulouse.
Throughout our experience with pancreatic cancer, we, as a family have felt powerless and disheartened. I hope that with this charity event, we will finally feel empowered and have a positive, if not bum-numbing, experience.
