Tony passed away peacefully on 20 July 2014 surrounded by his close family aged 72, following a short battle with an aggressive brain tumour. Cherished husband to June, father to Lynette and Elaine and beloved grandad to George, Alexander and Harry. He will sorely be missed by all those that knew him.
Above all, Tony will be remembered for his love of cycling. He was a talented cyclist, the pinnacle of which was representing Wales in the 1962 Perth Commonwealth Games. He never gave up on his passion for cycling and continued to cycle long distances until very recently.
In his memory, we would be grateful, rather than receiving funeral flowers, for a donation to be made to Bikes 4 Africa. The charity, part of the Jole Rider charity, sends bikes to Africa which are given to school children for them to use on their long journeys to school. This charity combines what were two of Tony's passions - cycling and Africa. Tony climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in 2000 and the Simien mountains in Ethiopia in 2002. Tony was fond of this charity and donated a number of bikes to this cause.
We are sure that Tony would have been very honoured to know that this charity was being supported in his name.
