London to Paris Cycle 2019 · 24 July 2019 to 28 July 2019 ·

Passing through the picturesque Kent countryside, you cross the Channel and continue through small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France along to our finish line at the iconic Eiffel Tower!

Story

Kelly - My Nan passed away in 2018 and I struggle to remember the woman she used to be before dementia kicked in.  Also my Dad has Vascular Dementia.

Nick - My Grandma has Dementia, as does my Brother in Law's Dad.

Collectively we know far too many others who are fighting the disease or who have sadly lost the fight and many a friend who have a loved one in the same situation.

Watching someone change as the disease takes hold is upsetting, worrying, confusing and heartbreaking.

Someone affected by dementia can also suffer with confusion, anxiety, aggression, depression, hallucinations and it can completely change an individual’s personality and yet there is no cure for it.

This is why my husband and I have decided to cycle from London to Paris in aid of Alzheimer’s.  The challenge takes place over 4 days - 3 days x 80 miles and 1 day x 60 miles giving a total 300 miles – simple! Obviously crossing the channel is by ferry so we won't be kitted out in scuba gear cycling underwater for this part of the journey.

It is going to be one monster challenge for us but we are determined to achieve it.

We are asking that you unite with us to help find a cure for dementia - any donation great or small is more than welcome and humbly appreciated

Thank you

Kelly and Nick
