I am a Gynae Oncology Nurse for the NHS and a specialist nurse for Ask Eve, The Eve Appeal's information service covering all gynae-related issues.

Every day, 58 women in the UK are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer. That's 58 wives, mothers, daughters, sisters and friends -- and 21 will die. I see firsthand the severe impact this fight has, both on patients and their loved ones. So on 29th September, I will be trekking 25km through the Peak District for them.

The high mortality rate of 40% across the five gynae cancers is truly heartbreaking. The Eve Appeal are doing everything in their power to change it, but they need your help. Please support their dedicated medical research -- which focuses on developing effective methods of prevention, risk prediction and early detection of the gynae cancers -- as well as their straight-talking awareness campaigns to teach women everywhere how to recognise the signs and symptoms of gynae cancer.

As part of my role at Ask Eve, I go out to a number of workplaces and give information and awareness talks. I might have even talked to you and your team. At the moment, my team and I can only respond to a fraction of the requests that we get. And we know that this face-to-face work is really effective. The feedback we get from the sessions is positive and often very moving. We get personal follow-ups from women who have concerns, and often men, too, who tell us stories they've never been able to talk about before -- their mum having been diagnosed, for example, or their partner who's been worrying about a symptom but hasn't sought medical help.

We want to do more of this work. We want to talk to more corporates as part of their staff well-being programmes. But we need funding.
