Walk 400,00 steps in October · 1 October 2020
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My story
In 2007 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I think it’s about time I did some fundraising. Last week I heard about Breast Cancer Now’s Walk 400,000 Steps October Challenge and on the same day I heard from a dear friend who had just received a breast cancer diagnosis. Now is my time to walk and help.
I will be aiming to reach my daily step goal of nearly 13,000 by walking around school (luckily we have 4 floors and I will be up and down even more than usual), joining in with the children doing their daily mile and going for extra walks whenever I can. I also have a walking holiday booked for half term which should scoop up any steps I am short of.
Thank you to my friends, family and colleagues who have supported me practically and emotionally during and since my treatment in 2007/8. It was quite a year to say the least. But I’m here, and very grateful and now feel that I want to raise some money to help others who are going through what I did.
If you are able to donate, thank you. Your support will make a difference.
A bit about breast cancer
An estimated 600,000 people are living with and beyond breast cancer in the UK, and every 10 minutes someone else is diagnosed with the disease. Now more than ever, we must do all we can to support patients and their families through whatever they’re facing. But Breast Cancer Now can’t do it alone. The charity’s nurses, scientists, and the hundreds of thousands of families affected by breast cancer, urgently need support. Thank you for your donation, which will help Breast Cancer Now to fund world-class research and life-changing support for everyone affected by breast cancer, now and in the future.
