Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After the tragic passing of Salim Rajwani in May this year I decided that I wanted to take on a challenge to help people in his name.
Although Salim was already a family friend I became closer friends with Salim through running together a few years ago. We used to run for an hour along Eastbourne seafront and chat about anything and everything. He was such an amazing guy who had such good values and was a brilliant listener. He also helped build my confidence with running with others as until that point I didn't think I was a very good runner and would just hold people back if I went running with them! I have since then run three half marathons and a full marathon so those hour runs on the seafront hold a special place in my heart.
When Salim passed away he requested that instead of bringing flowers to his funeral that donations were made to St Wilfrid's Hospice in Eastbourne instead. They looked after him when he was ill and obviously he felt that they deserved love and support. Since Salim passed away I've been unfortunate enough to lose a family member Duarte Castro. He spent a couple of nights at St Wilfrid's Hospice and all our family were extremely grateful to the amazing support and comfort that they provided during such a painful time.
On a personal level I have not been a very dedicated runner over the past year as other challenges in life have taken priority. It seem like the perfect time to take on a running challenge and push myself out of my comfort zone - Beachy Head marathon being one of the more challenging off road marathons, in honour of one of the people who helped me get into running and to raise money for an amazing cause.
Thank you again for taking the time to visit my page and donate. I really hope that we manage to hit my fund raising goal and then some!!
