I wrote a book called Truth or Dare about performing dares to raise money for a fictional character with a traumatic brain injury, but brain injuries aren't fictional so why should the dares be?
So, let's be ambitious... if I can raise £2000.00 in donations for the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, I will shave my head. I won't record the event on YouTube, but I will do it in public at during YALC at London Film and Comic Con (July 28-30th).
The RHN helped me with my research. I learned how expensive it is to give people with neuro-disability the quality of life many of us take for granted. Wheelchairs are often bespoke because of the unique nature of a patient's condition; developing communication requires skilled professionals, time and in some cases high-tech equipment; and anyone who has suffered a brain injury is more than a patient – they are a person, in need a network of leisure activities such as gardening, access to art and music and beyond.
I’m grateful to the staff and patients I met at the RHN and now it’s time to give something back.
If you can make a donation, it will make a difference. (And make me bald...!)
