Hello Supporters!

We are beautiful  Labrador puppies called Frankie & Faith.  

We are dreaming of becoming a fully qualified Medical Detection Dogs possibly saving our owner’s life by alerting them to danger if they have a life threatening condition or illness such as:- Type 1 Diabetes, severe allergies, Addisons Disease, Narcolepsy.

Or perhaps we may be chosen to be one of the charity’s very special Cancer Detection Dogs working on the early detection of cancers such as:- Renal, bladder, prostate and breast cancer. 

The amount we have raised so far has paid for my breeding, sourcing, socialising and much more. I hope you will join me on this journey so we can become a Medical Detection Dog trained to save lives.

We are both currently living with puppy socialisers for the first twelve months of our life. Life is great at the moment as we are having fun playing and learning about all sorts of new environments. We also go to the training centre for regular training classes with the other puppies which is great fun.

Spring 2017

Faith is now 12 weeks old and she has settled into life with her socialiser really well, she loves her bed in the kitchen where she can watch the cooking, tea drinking and hustle and bustle going on. Faith lives with an older couple in a house with a big garden to sniff around in. She has regular visits from the family and she especially loves the grandchildren. Faith has just started coming along to puppy classes in the park as she has just completed all her vaccinations. She has also started going to town for short periods of time.

Winter 2016

Frankie is now 16 months old and is progressing well with his training. He is at the advanced stage of puppy training where he has a very good standard of obedience and will soon be available to match with prospective clients. Until he is matched with a client, his training will continue in a wide variety of environments to ensure he is continues to mature into a confident and relaxed working dog. As he is still relatively young, he still shows some signs of immaturity and can get excited when he says hello to some of his favourite people. This usually makes him want to pick up one of his favourite toys and parade it around, which is very sweet and will be utilised to teach him to retrieve useful items for a client in the future.
Frankie was recently one of several dogs to represent Medical Detection Dogs at the opening of Santa’s Grotto in a local town centre. There was a procession that included all sorts of weird and wonderful sights and sounds, as well as hordes of people to meet. He has also been continuing to build experience of living in different types of homes by spending the weekend with a young family to get used to children. We always try to make sure our dogs are as flexible as we can in terms of where they may be placed to live with a client. Frankie loves his favourite blue tuggy toy, and is always keen to play whether he is
at home, out on a walk or even in a quiet corner of the shopping centre.

Summer 2016

Frankie is now 10 months old as is maturing into a friendly, fun and outgoing young dog. During the early stages of his training he suffered with a slight gut problem that took some time to resolve but he is now fi t and is on course to meet the standards required of a Medical Alert Assistance Dog.
He lives with a socialiser family who absolutely love having him around; he will always greet you with a wagging tail and loves to carry slippers or snuggle on his blanket at your feet when he is tired. He will soon spend time ‘on holiday’ with another socialiser who lives on a working farm to broaden his experience and build his confidence, and he has recently enjoyed a first trip to the seaside where he had the best day ever!
His training has been progressing well, and he is always keen to please. We are keen for the dogs to perform in all sorts of environments and situations, so Frankie has been on trains, buses, shopping centres, an animal park and even the zoo as part of his training program. He has been bold and inquisitive in nearly every situation, but wasn’t too sure how to get off the train when there was a big gap to the platform, so more practice will be needed in that area. He is nearing full size, and was castrated last month. This means that over the coming weeks and months we will consider which client Frankie can be ‘matched’ to, and he will start to learn some of the scent games that teach him how to use his nose ready to become a Medical Alert Assistance Dog.

Spring 2016

Frankie is our first Medical Detection Dog and is very special. He has been an absolute joy. He is extremely friendly and will always greet you with a wagging tail. Although timid at first, he has now learnt to be more confident-he has overcome his fear of footbridges and will happily clamber into rivers and watery puddles, but only if he can touch the bottom. He is also inquisitive, but will never stray far from your sight.
He also loves meeting other dogs and people, is very playful and rarely barks. His favourite toy is his tuggy rope. He is always up for a game of Tug of War, but also enjoys a game of hide and seek with his squeaky red parcel. He likes going to Thrift Farm to meet all the animals and he especially enjoyed his day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park where he was intrigued by the meerkats, but not too keen on the vultures!
He recently had his first trip to the seaside (Padstow) in Cornwall-doggy heaven! It was magical to see him experiencing the sand and crashing waves for the first time, running through the sea and digging holes in the sand.
He has daily walks in the countryside and often goes into Buckingham where he meets many more dogs. When Frankie wears his jacket in public access areas he is impeccably behaved he seems to know just what to do and what is expected of him. When he is not learning he loves being in the garden, lying in the sun and chewing his bone. He is well-behaved most of the time, but will steal your slippers if you leave them around, or pull the fluffy cushions off the sofa. He will snuggle up on his blanket at our feet most evenings or use the draught excluder as a pillow.
When Frankie is at his most relaxed he sleeps on his back with his tongue hanging out. This always makes us laugh!
