Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Tully Kearney. I'm a GB Para Swimmer, seven times World Champion and proud Patron of Dystonia UK. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder which is a very poorly understood, debilitating and life changing condition and sufferers often have to wait for extended periods for diagnosis, often being mis-diagnosed with other conditions along the way.  There is no cure for this condition and treatments are currently limited.  I myself was finally diagnosed with Generalised Dystonia when I was 16 years old, although my symptoms first started when I was 13.  My condition has progressed rapidly and has affected all aspects of my life and I am now a full-time wheelchair user.  I want to give back to Dystonia UK, the only national charity providing support, advocacy and information for anyone affected by the this condition, as without their help I don't know how I would have coped and they need ongoing financial support to continue to provide the vital services they offer. So I decided I would swim for 26 minutes in my 13ft steel framed temporary pool in my back garden, attached to a bungee cord. The pool is unheated so is pretty cold but I won't be wearing a wetsuit, only a neoprene vest and hat (to prevent brain freeze!).

Please help me raise funds for this worthy cause! Thank you so much for your help.
