Story

Most of you probably already know my story and will have donated previously but just incase your new to my page heres why i'm going to be running 2 marathons during January 2017!

In August of 2013 I found out my younger brother Ryan had a brain tumour, he had an operation to remove the meningioangiomatosis which is a very rare but benign tumour. The operation was a success however things are never that easy when it comes to the brain. Ryan is no longer able to work or drive due to epileptic seizures. The tablets for this alone have many side effects which make life all the more difficult.

In May 2014 an MRI scan showed a new growth in the same place where the first tumour was removed and after numerous meetings with his consultant the decision was made for Ryan to have surgery again on the 18th of December 2014 to take a biopsy of the new growth.

The biopsy gave doctors no clue as to what the new growth was apart from that they believe it to be malignant. In March 2015 Ryan had 6 weeks of daily Radiotherapy. Through all this Ryan has remained the bravest person I know and i'm so proud to call him my brother, he has the most amazing spirit, he's absolutely hilarious and you would never know that all this was going on as he never complains about anything.(apart from missing his car lol) The radiation was a success and ryan was given the all clear.

In January 2016 another MRI scan showed the growths in the brain had grown back and had also spread to the spine, Ryan has since undergone numerous rounds of different types of chemo along with spinal radiation  with none having any affect up to now.

about me .............I joined a gym in 2013 and had worked my way up to running on a treadmill for a max of 7 minutes WAHOOO! but the day I got the news about Ryan I got on the treadmill and in my mind with every footstep trampled on that tumour, I ran for 30 minutes that night and ever since then I've kept on running. Ryan is my motivation for everything now, whats happened to him just highlights how precious life is and that you never know whats around the corner. I started training for the marathon in september 2014 and I have to say it is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, to beat the Dubai heat I was waking up at 4.30am for training runs, before work after work on holidays even in lapland it was -35 degrees so I ran for 2 hours on a treadmill indoors. My life had to change a lot and I suffered many aches, pains, injuries, blisters, sickness not to mention the lack of a social life, but all that is still absolutely NOTHING in comparison to what cancer sufferers go through and this is why I have to keep going and need your help to spread the word and raise more and more funds to find a cure! I run to raise money and awareness but through it all I have found it to be my therapy, it helps me to unravel the mess and stress in my mind and feel positive about each day and each breath!

I want to thank the following people for joining my team doing a number of amazing things to raise awareness and money; Pete & Debbie Harvey, Jaqui & Andy Bullimoore, Zoe Brunsdon, Abbi Williams, Lisa Howarth, Sam Taylor, Julie Redgate, Helen Barret, Andrea Barker, Darren Brittain

WITH YOUR HELP OF COURSE ;-) Brain Tumour Research unlike great cancer research receives little government funding, they need 1million pound per year to sustain the research centre at the University of Portsmouth. Which is why my goal is 2740 this will sponsor 1 day of research, this will be recognised by a tile which will be on the wall of hope at the university to show our achievement.

So..... now its time for you to dig deep and donate!!!! Spread the word share this page wherever you like just get it out there, believe me I'm not running for the fun of it LOL
