Let's just cut to the chase...a bunch of disadvantaged children need our help and cash!
Ubique Architects (and a few other mates) are running the triathlon for Masicorp, who are a truly amazing charity.
The Home of Love is a starter school for terribly deprived little children in the poverty stricken township of Masiphumelele, near Cape Town, South Africa. Life expectancy there is low and many do not survive. The school sets these little ones on the road to a decent education, which is probably their only chance of escaping this misery to a better life.
Many children in the settlement are badly under nourished, often living in corrugated iron shacks with dirt floors where a family of six will have to take it in turns to find somewhere to sleep in the cramped space. People there are so poor the children may have little more than rags to wear. The Home of Love School was financed by a group of UK friends, who raised money to build the classrooms, but now it desperately needs your donation to continue to give these youngsters a chance of a future. Fairly small amounts of money can make a massive difference. The team taking part in the Leeds Castle Triathlon are giving their all so that with your support they can give lots of little ones a reason to hope…please help if you can.
Below are some examples of how the money they raise will be used to help.
1: Many of the children in the township never get a nutritious meal. At the Home of Love they are given a proper balanced meal every day and this costs only about 50p per child. So for as little as £125 a child can be fed all year and £1,250 will give 10 children the food they need to survive.
2: Education is the only way for children to escape from the poverty in this terribly deprived settlement. Mother and daughter Priscilla and Indiana do a fantastic job of teaching the children, but they desperately need another qualified teacher to help. For as little as £1,500 a teacher can be employed for 3 months and that would mean the Home of Love can help more youngsters have a chance of a better life.
3: Little ones may have to exist in just one set of filthy clothes. For just £5 a child at the Home of Love can be given a new school top, which they wear with such pride.
Also bear in mind that the majority of us are old, overweight and unfit, with a high possibility of drowning in the moat, so please give as much as you can ;0)
