At Bike New York, we empower people to transform their lives and communities through bicycling. Our vision for the future is of a vibrant, healthy, green world with more people riding bikes—including the 32,000 people like yourself who will participate in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour come May 6th.
Since our education program’s inception in 2010, we’ve taught bike skills and knowledge to more than 100,000 kids and adults, and we have big plans to increase ridership further, remove barriers to cycling, advocate for and expand services to reach more New Yorkers, and empower youth to lead healthy, productive lives.
However, while we now run the largest free urban bike education program of its kind in the world, funded in large part by the Tour and our other rides and events, growth has its challenges. Take our bike fleet, for instance—it’s showing signs of wear, and it’s time to replace it so that we can continue to fulfill and expand our mission. We'd also like to recycle, refurbish, and redistribute our old bikes so that some of our students can have their very own bicycle when they graduate our programs!
However, with 12 bike educations centers across the five boroughs, each filled with dozens of bikes, this won’t be easy—and we need your help to make it happen.
Will you help us empower kids and adults from all across New York City's five boroughs to make cycling a part of their lives?
