Story

Since May 2012 the staff and residents at Valerie Manor have been dedicated to raising money for this fantastic charity.

For those wanting to join the challenge as part of our team please donate £5 with your name and 'Fit Feb' and for anyone else just wanting to support us we appreciate your donation!

Whether you take part alone or challenge a friend or family member, all you have to do is complete an hour of physical or mental activity each day throughout February 2021, and get sponsored for doing it.

You can get fit however you like, and you can mix it up throughout the month. So, whether you jive, juggle, or jog… row, ride, or rollerblade… scoot, skateboard or space hop, there’s something for everyone, no matter what your age or ability.

We have now joined forces with Head Active to raise more money for St Barnabas - Head Active have helped me with my physical and mental wellbeing during this difficult time and it's like a new family of lovely people!

Head Active are a local health & fitness company that have transferred their usual in person training to an online platform since the first UK lockdown and have since delivered over 1,000 live online workouts to people who were in need of some endorphin release! Head Active offer workouts ranging from online bootcamps & HIIT workouts to restorative yoga & stretch sessions.

Head Active are offering to help support Fit Feb by offering FREE access to their Live Online Program membership throughout February (normally £34) to anyone who personally donates £20 or more. This membership gives access to their "On Demand” members site where you can tune into over 1,000 different classes plus a recipe pack with healthy balanced meals to get you inspired in the kitchen!

The Valerie Manor team even wore it festive with masks in December for our friends at St Barnabas.

Below you will find some summaries of what we have been up to and also by visiting our blog :

We can't think of a better way to support St Barnabas again with our residents, staff, relatives and friends of Valerie Manor taking part in Fit Feb! I love the idea that it covers both physical and mental activity which as we know benefits us all especially during these challenging times - in doing so we can also raise money for a great cause too!

We look forward to a month of fun and challenges with anyone who would like to join us!

For those wanting to join the challenge as part of our team please donate £5 with your name and 'Fit Feb' and for anyone else just wanting to support us we appreciate your donation!

October 2017

Having had to pull out of last year’s South Down Trek due to
injury (well done Zoë, Catherine, Andrew, Mike & Sarah who completed it!)
Alan has entered this year’s event and has decided to run the route.

It goes without saying what wonderful work St Barnabas House
does and how much it costs to provide their care and skills to members of the
community when they are in such need.

Every penny raised in fundraising goes directly to the
running of the ‘Outstanding’ (CQC Rated) facility which still receives no
government funding at all.

So if you are able to support Alan on his Trek by making a
donation it would be greatly appreciated.

June 2017

Catherine one of our Trainied Nurses and two of her friends Louise and Libbyare walking 13.1 miles, in pink, toraise money for this amazing cause. The main reason we are doing this isbecause we currently have friends with cancer, and we wanted to do somethingpractical to show our support.
