Story

I had two liver transplants within five days in February 2015. I am very lucky to be here. I was in hospital for almost 6 weeks and still had many months of recovering to do when I got home.

Because of the length of time I was laid in my hospital bed, all my muscles got so very weak. In the beginning I wasn't even strong enough to suck through a straw, I can remember thinking that I would never be able to simply just go for a walk again 😨

I started to #walk1000miles in January, just as a personal challenge to myself. Then I thought to myself, why not try and raise some money while you're doing this.

I have chosen this charity because of the amazing treatment and care I received at the QE. I am fundraising for the Critical Care Unit and the Liver Unit at QEHB. Through my own illness I have been lucky enough to meet others who also received treatment at the QE, but they very sadly did not make it through their own transplant journeys. I am doing my challenge in memory of Kate, Rosco, Marina and Mark 😍

And also for my friend Alex, who is recovering from her third liver transplant.

It is completely up to me when I walk and how far I walk, as long as I make it to 1000 miles by the end of the year.

That's not much of a challenge I can hear you thinking 💭! Well it is actually for me ...

If you visit my blog www.mylovelyliver.co.uk you can read my whole story and also keep up to date with my mileage!
