We manage donations from the games industry to support more UK children's charities

Story

The PS Vita games site Vita Player is aiming to raise at least £1,000 for the UK Video Games Industry charity GamesAid through this video games challenge.

Vita Player's Site Editor Simon Plumbe was inspired by his 13 year old daughter who recently undertook a sponsored walk for Sports Relief, he decided that he had spent too long away from taking any direct action to support any worthy causes beyond the charity fundraising done by his annual Transformers convention Auto Assembly. After spending several years of regular donations to the WWF, and being a regular volunteer for Oxfam before aving to give up for health reasons, this seemed to be a perfect time to give something back once again himself.

So Simon has decided to take part in a 24-hour gaming marathon session on 2nd - 3rd May 2014 playing a wide range of games non-stop on the PlayStation Vita only taking necessary toilet breaks in a period between 12:00 noon on Friday 2nd and 12:00 noon on Saturday 3rd May.

During this epic gaming session, he is aiming to not only play games continually during this time, but also aim to play in excess of 100 different titles on the console proving gamers wrong saying that the system has no titles available, posting regular updates and photos on the Vita Player website and it's Twitter and Facebook accounts.

With over 1,000 Twitter followers and as many visitors to the site daily, we hope to not only reach our goal of raising £1,000 but to shatter this amount with your support.

More information of what we want to do and Simon's personal goals and direct links to our live Twitter feeds can be found on the website at www.vitaplayer.co.uk and it's our aim to update everyone as often as we can right up until the end of the challenge!
